Interlibrary Service

Interlibrary services take place between libraries and are subject to agreed upon rules and regulations. If an item is not available in any of the Savonlinna libraries, you can submit a request for an interlibrary loan or ask for an interlibrary photocopy. The Provincial Archives also lend microfilms and -fiches to libraries via the interlibrary service.

Savonlinna Municipal Library materials can be searched online using the Web-Origo database.

You can leave an interlibrary lending request at the Main Library or at any of the branch libraries. You can also fill an internet interlibrary request form (see the link at the bottom of this page). All interlibrary orders are binding and you will be charged the costs according to the library service fee list. The more information about the material you can fill in the request form, the faster it will be processed.

The availability of your interlibrary loan request is checked from nationwide library databases. Your order is then emailed to a library having the requested material. When the material has come to Savonlinna Municipal Library, you will be sent a notification. When the loan period ends, you return the material to Savonlinna Library, which takes care of sending it back to the original lending library.

Savonranta branch library does not use the Savonlinna Library as a middleman, instead it uses the interlibrary services independently.

Savonlinna Municipal Library charges a 5 fee for every interlibrary loan request and 2 for every copy request. You must also pay any additional fees charged by the lending library. The Provincial Archives and most scientific libraries always charge for interlibrary loans.
