More Co-operation between Savonlinna and Punkaharju Libraries

Savonlinna and Punkaharju Libraries have combined their material and customer databases in April 2008.
For the customers, this means:

  • Both libraries' collections are available through the same Web-Origo database.

  • Savonlinna Library customers can borrow books from Punkaharju Library and vice versa.

  • Savonlinna and Punkaharju libraries' collections are shared. The customers can request materials as a regional loan from the other municipality's library. Regional loans are sent daily with the Mobile Library. Fee for a regional loan request is 1 .

  • Customers can make reservations for materials in both libraries. The reserved materials must be picked and returned at the library it was reserved from. Reservation fee is 1 / title.

  • The materials must be returned in the same municipality's library it was borrowed from. Transfer fee for materials returned in the wrong municipal library is 1 / title.

  • Mobile Library accepts as returns only those Savonlinna Library materials originally borrowed from there. At Punkaharju stops, the Mobile Library accepts all materials loaned from Punkaharju Library.

  • Customers may renew their loans five times at the maximum, starting April 1st 2008.

  • Both libraries will have their own rules and charge fees and fines according to their own list of charges. However, a possible loan ban issued by one library covers both of them.
